Joy Cutter Motor Rewind for Continuous Miners

Stator rewind and mechanical rebuild of 950 V cutter motors for Joy continuous miners, for U.S. underground mines and motor repair shops.

In short

TEMISA rewinds and rebuilds AC cutter motors for Joy continuous miners, including the 600128 series at 950 V. We renew the stator with Class H form-wound coils, restore bearing fits to ANSI/EASA AR100, balance the rotor and release each motor with recorded IEEE tests. The explosion-proof enclosure is not modified.

  • 600128-series cutter motors, 950 V, 60 Hz.
  • Class H form-wound stator rewind.
  • Bearing fits restored to ANSI/EASA AR100.
  • Recorded IEEE tests and 60-minute run test.
  • Explosion-proof enclosure not modified.

Part numbers

Which Joy cutter motors do you rewind?

Other 600128-series and Joy cutter motors: send the nameplate. We rewind to the rating of the motor you send.

U.S. motor repair shops

Overflow capacity for stator rewinds when your winding floor is full. You keep the customer and the final inspection; we return the rewound motor with its test record.

Underground mines

Rewind of spare cutter motors so your rebuild pool does not depend on a single source. Send the nameplate and the failure; you get a technical answer first.

Scope of work

What we upgrade and what we never change

What we upgradeWhat we never change
Stator rewound with new form-wound coilsExplosion-proof enclosure
Class H insulation systemFlame-path surfaces and their dimensions
Varnish treatment with dehydration and controlled oven cureLead entrances
Bearing fits restored to ANSI/EASA AR100 tolerancesMounting and shaft dimensions
New bearings, induction-mounted, and new sealsNameplate rating: HP, voltage and speed stay as built
Rotor dynamically balanced
Temperature sensors (RTDs) tested

Enclosure dimensions are not modified. Before a rebuilt explosion-proof motor goes back underground, the mine's qualified electrical person inspects it, as MSHA regulations require.

Joy 600128-0735, 250 HP 950 V: grounded winding to 6,700 MΩ

A cutter motor from an underground mine, mexico arrived with its winding grounded at 0.03 MΩ and both bearings damaged. It left with a new Class H form-wound winding, restored bearing fits, a balanced rotor, 6,700 MΩ insulation resistance, PI 7.94 and 0% surge unbalance.

Credentials

Who does the work

CFE LAPEM qualification
Current qualification under specification W6000-20 (motors), certificate 053/26, valid through May 20, 2027. Scope: service to electric motors from 150 to 15,000 HP at rated voltage up to 1.5 kV — the range of a 950 V cutter motor.
Repair process standard
Repair processes follow ANSI/EASA AR100 (a process standard, not a certification).
Plant
5,600 m² shop in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, Mexico, with overhead cranes up to 60 t. Founded 1954.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Other questions: write to ventas@temisa.mx and an engineer will answer.

Do you modify the explosion-proof enclosure?

No. We rewind the stator and restore the mechanical fits, but the explosion-proof enclosure, the flame-path surfaces, the lead entrances and the mounting dimensions are not modified. Before the motor returns to service underground, the mine's qualified electrical person inspects it, as MSHA regulations require.

What tests are included?

Every motor is released with recorded tests: winding resistance (IEEE Std 1415), insulation resistance, polarization index and step-voltage hi-pot (IEEE Std 43 and 95), surge comparison (IEEE Std 522), core loop test with thermography, rotor growler test, dynamic balance (ISO 21940) and a 60-minute run test with current, temperature and vibration.

What warranty do you offer?

Warranty terms are stated in writing in each quotation, for each motor.

How is the motor shipped to and from Mexico?

Motors travel by truck freight between your mine or shop and our plant in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco, Mexico. Freight terms, export and import paperwork and turnaround are quoted for each job.

Do you work with U.S. motor repair shops?

Yes. We take stator rewinds as overflow work for repair shops. The shop keeps the customer relationship and its own final inspection; we return the rewound motor with the full test record.

Are you a Joy or Komatsu dealer?

No. TEMISA is an independent motor repair shop founded in 1954. Joy and Komatsu are named only to identify the equipment our work applies to.
